Not your usual stocktake

Counting books is distracting enough, but when a stocktake involves counting sheep, I'd better be careful...

The sheep continue to be my woolly ambassadors, attracting lots of attention at book signings, and filling up my knitting bag, as well as much of my time - they are a clear example of characters taking over; and in this case they've even escaped the page and taken on knitted form, to rampage about...

Book signings and Christmas fair

It's that time of year again, I'm busy booking up my weekends in November and December to do book signings at Christmas fairs...

I've got some exciting venues lined up this year, from the Tithe Barn in Poppleton to Yorkshire Heart Vineyard - yes a vineyard in Yorkshire - what an exciting new venue for a Christmas fair! I love the Christmas fair season as everyone gets ready for the festive season, and it's good to know that my books will be part of so many people's Christmas' as they emerge from the wrapping paper  - I wonder which book will be this year's bestseller...?

People like to meet a real live author, parents like to show their children the face to the name on the front cover on the books - but it's a two way thing, as an author it's great to meet my readers - as time goes on there's more and more who've already read my books, and give me feedback and which ones they liked best. The Monster Under The Bed is always a big taking point, everyone has a story to tell about the monster under their beds, and But I'm Not Sleepy is still my bestseller - it seems everyone has a Lucy...

Book signings - book giveaways and online ramblings...

So my challenge for the week is to empty the first box of Outnumbered by Cats... that's the books not the cats.

There's only 2 books left in the first box... how hard can it be? It's a small print run of just 100 books, all will be hand numbered and signed.

I've got my marketing team on the case, but they all seem to be napping at the moment... well it is raining.

And they're not the sort of marketing team that I can take out and about to book signings, they really don't like going in the car...

So we're trying a joint effort online, me doing random ramblings and them looking adorable in photos... and so far, views are on the up for my various ramblings, and people are retweeting their cute photos, so we just have to convert those views and retweets to purchases...

OK so someone is getting impatient,
 so what about doing  a book giveaway...

That too seems to be a minefield of Ts & Cs anyone got any ideas they want to share...?

My list of Christmas events is still growing, I've just booked in to York's latest venue - York's Flea Market, which sounds like too much fun to miss. but if you can't make it to one of these events why not stop by at my Online Book Signing and grab yourself a signed copy, still postage free.

Book signings and Christmas fairs

Here I am in October and a festive feeling is sneaking in as I book a few more Christmas fairs - list to be posted when I have the confirmations.
So out with the fairy lights and Christmas sparkles - and bring it on... it's always lovely to know that some of my books are out there being lovingly wrapped in Christmas wrapping paper and nestling in Christmas stockings and under Christmas trees. :) ...now, where's that Santa hat?

Books selling like hot cakes...

I passed the reindeer in their paddock on the way into The Farm Shop Christmas fair on Thursday, they looked up as I drove slowly past, maybe they thought I was bringing food...
I had a a good day, people are really getting into the swing of Christmas shopping now.

Another day another fair - Friday saw me book signing in the Guild Hall in the centre of York, it was a quiet day, but with the weather as it was, who could blame shoppers for staying at home... Saturday more than made up for it though, with a very busy day. My first customer of the day was a little girl who emptied out her handbag onto the table, and counted out her own money to buy a book - how adorable is that?
