I find I work best if I manage not to open the laptop, as it contains so many distractions...

The painting is going well, the paints have settled down, and although some are still reluctant to open, they can be persuaded...

I find I work best if I manage not to open the laptop, as it contains so many distractions - but do I really need a bumper pack of buttons, or a bundle of ribbon? Well... probably not, but I would quite like some... think of the Easter busy books I could make with those pastel shades, not to mention the bunny buttons - What's that - I'm just procrastinating? Not at all! I'm letting my imagination flow - run riot even... I'm a writer, it's allowed (expected even...)

Because sometimes characters have a mind of their own...

The battle between words and pictures...

So here's the thing - I've been splashing around with some paint this week. I thought I just had to illustrate a story that I'd already written and polished. But that's before the pictures got involved...

The trouble started as I got going with the illustrations and the character I was painting just didn't want to go to bed as the scrip was directing - time to turn the story on it's head and accommodate this headstrong character - who knows what'll happen next...?

How did that happen...?

One minute I'm painting illustrations and the next I'm up a stepladder painting walls - how did that happen?

My problem with decorating is that everything else still has to carry on despite big chunks of day being taken up by painting walls, and then going to the swimming pool while the paint dries - what was that... did I need to go to the pool while the paint dried? Well of course I did... But the surprising thing was, while I was neglecting my bog and social media, I was getting more views  on my website- maybe people prefer to view my site while I'm not there in case I pounce out on them and make them buy a book offer them a book...

Anyway... the decorating is done, and I've been to the hairdressers to get de-frazzled, de-tangled and de-stressed and now I'm nice and relaxed and ready to hide away and read a book get back to work marketing my books to all these lovely people who're visiting my cyber bookshop.
